नहीं होना था

तेरी आँखो में, ऐसा क्या था, 
जो मैं नहीं देख पाया, 
सब कुछ कितना ख़ूबसूरत था, 
बस, वो धोखा, नहीं देख पाया..

उम्र भर साथ चलने की, 
हमने कसम खाई थी..
उन कसमों में छुपा झूठ,
मैं नहीं देख पाया..

शायद तुम बेवफा नहीं हो,   
पर उन गर्दिशों में, 
जिसकी तुमसे उम्मीद थी, 
वो वफ़ा, मैं नहीं देख पाया..

वो भी एक वक़्त था, 
गुज़रते, गुज़र ही गया, 
पर तेरा ज़िक्र, 
आज भी कर रहा हूँ..

शायद उस दर्द से, 

मैं पूरी तरह, उभर नहीं पाया..

Some relationships are 'not' meant to be i.e. not made in heaven. Therefore, they fade out. Sometimes by mutual decision, and sometimes, when one of them backs off. The one who was loyal, does feel betrayed (the poetry is centred around this feeling). But eventually one realizes, that it wasn't meant to be - नहीं होना था.

I hope you identified the laughter, hidden in my pain, and the pain, hidden in my laughter :-)
